Michael Ramirez’ cartoon published in The Buffalo News on Jan. 20 conveyed the message that Congress is doing nothing while trying to impeach Donald Trump.
On Dec. 18, Newsweek published a photo of a pile of bills that have been passed with bipartisan approval in the House that are resting on Mitch McConnell’s desk because he won’t allow them to be addressed by the Senate. He does not want the Democratic House to succeed at anything, so he holds up their attempt at progress.
That pile of bills totals over 275 that the Republican Majority Leader is holding captive, but Ramirez doesn’t want to address that. He only wants to continue to slander the Democrats in Congress while covering up the fact that nothing is getting done while Republicans try to protect their president and leader.
If the Democratic Congress is doing nothing, it is not for lack of trying. It’s simply because one of Trump’s toadies is holding their efforts hostage.
