Attack on Titan's final chapter released earlier this month, ending the critically acclaimed manga that started in 2009. The chapter answered many questions that fans had and ended most of the main character's arcs in the best way possible, such as Levi, Jean, and Connie getting to see their fallen friends one last time or Annie and Reiner reuniting with their parents.

However, despite giving readers many things that they wanted, a lot of readers feel like the ending was bad or that there should have been more, already missing the story that gave them something to look forward to every month. Though they wish the series would continue, that doesn't necessarily mean that it should.

10 Should Continue: Most Of The Characters Survived The Final Battle

By the end of the series, most of the characters had already died. However, the Survey Corps and Warrior Unit's surviving members were able to live beyond The Rumbling. Because of this, fans don't get to see what happens to them beyond the last chapter, and even though their days of fighting Titans have come to an end, it would still be interesting to read about whatever they do after that.

The warriors and soldiers are still seen spending time together, trying to make the world a more peaceful place, while Levi, Gabi, Falco, and Onyankopon live a quiet life, and Historia continues ruling over Paradis. Simply reading more interactions between them would make many fans happy.

9 Shouldn't: Eren Died, it would be weird for Attack on Titan to continue without him

Eren was the main character (and final antagonist) of the series, and it would be weird for Attack on Titan to continue without him. Though fans were tricked into thinking he died at the beginning of the manga after being eaten by a Titan, and there were a few arcs where other characters played a greater role, Eren was still part of the story in some way.

Many readers did not like how his arc ended, as he finally confessed how he felt after years of pretending to be emotionless. With the hate he's received after only one chapter and the role that he played throughout the whole series, it may be best for the story to end here so readers can keep moving forward, just like he did.

8 Should Continue: Many Nations & Events Were Not Shown

Though the majority of Attack on Titan took place on Paradis in the 850s, other countries and time periods are shown, such as the life that Grisha had in Marley before going to Paradis and centuries prior when Ymir Fritz was alive. There are other events and nations that readers would be interested in learning more about, such as The Great Titan War and Hizuru, the country that Kiyomi is from.

Since the Marley arc began immediately after the Return to Shiganshina arc but took place on the other side of the sea a few years later, and fans quickly accepted the sudden change in setting, with some even being excited by it, the same thing could happen if the story continued in another place and time.

7 Shouldn't: All Of The Titans Are Gone

As anyone can tell by the name of the series, the Titans are an important part of Attack on Titan, and if more chapters came to the manga, it would be strange for the Titans to be completely gone. When the Uprising arc started, the Titans stopped being as important as they were earlier in the series, but they were still needed.

Now, not only has every Titan disappeared, but the Titan Shifters can't even use their abilities anymore, making characters like Reiner and Armin only human, which takes away some of the things that initially intrigued readers.

6 Should Continue: The War Is Still Going On

Though Paradis' first threats have now been defeated and battles will never be the same for those that were able to transform into Titans, the war has not come to an end. It had been foreshadowed many times throughout the series that the conflicts the characters faced would never truly be solved, and this proved to be true as the people in Paradis prepare to fight the rest of the world.

Since the majority of them sees Eren as their savior, Armin and the other main characters may never make peace with them, no matter how hard they try, and even if they got the Yeagerists to not fight them personally, they wouldn't be able to stop them from attempting to conquer Marley, Hizuru, and the other countries around the world. Perhaps this would result in other warriors and soldiers becoming new main characters.

5 Shouldn't: It's Highly Doubtful That There Will Be A Greater Threat Than The Rumbling

The Founding Titan was always the most powerful being in the franchise since it first came into existence through Ymir Fritz until Eren became its inheritor. It was able to alter memories, control Eldians and other Titans, and, once Eren took control of it, kill 80% of humanity.

With it gone, there is no greater power and any future battle in the series would feel inferior to the one that took place in the last few chapters. The wars in Attack on Titan would now have a lot of similarities to those in real life, none of which took as many lives as Eren had, so it's nearly impossible for a greater final battle to be written.

4 Should Continue: Many Popular Manga Have Gotten Sequels

Attack on Titan is one of the most popular manga ever written, and it is quite common for successful manga to have sequels after the series ends. Two examples are Naruto and Dragon Ball. Naruto ended in 2014 and its sequel, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations began two years later, with many fans enjoying it despite the main series already coming to an end.

As for Dragon Ball, the most popular sequel, Dragon Ball Super, came out 20 years after Dragon Ball Z ended, which was also received well by readers though not as much as the original. If these manga can continue even after they ended, there's no reason to think that Attack on Titan won't eventually continue as well.

3 Shouldn't: The Spin-Offs Aren't As Good As The Main Series

Attack on Titan Before the Fall Volume 1

A sequel to the manga may not be announced any time soon, but there have been multiple prequels and spin-offs. Before the Fall was the longest of the spin-offs, having 17 volumes that released from 2013 to 2019. It took place decades prior to the main series and followed some of the Survey Corps' earliest adventures.

Other spin-offs, such as No Regrets and Lost Girls, revealed more about the characters of the main series, including Annie and the Ackermans. Though fans enjoyed these stories, they weren't as good as the original, and it would be unfortunate if any future spin-offs didn't meet readers' expectations.

2 Should Continue: Many Readers Don't Understand Why Hajime Isayama Finished The Series The Way He Did

As much as the ending of Attack on Titan was foreshadowed since the beginning of the series, such as Eren waking up from a nightmare in the first chapter and Armin not being able to die as his voice actor also narrates the anime, many readers were shocked by how the series ended. They believed fan theories and hoped that they'd get the exact ending they wanted rather than think of the hints Isayama gave for so long, subtly showing how he wanted to end the story, which he had multiple ideas for before deciding on the one he wrote.

The final chapter has received a lot of backlash, with many readers turning their backs on him, saying he's a bad writer and not understanding the story he was trying to tell. By writing a few more chapters, he could further explain the events of the last chapter to those that don't understand why Eren did what was best for Mikasa, why there was no way he could have activated the coordinate if it weren't for Dina eating Carla, and anything else they may not have understood.

1 Shouldn't: Hajime Isayama Has Other Plans Now

Even before the final chapter came out, Isayama has stated that working on another manga wasn't his next goal. Instead, he wishes to have his own spa.

After all that he's done for the fans over the past decade, they should respect what he wants and let Attack on Titan end until either he wants to continue the story or another writer takes over, just like with the spin-offs.
