Promised Neverland: 10 Manga Characters Who Aren't As Important In The Anime - CBR - Comic Book Resources

dokdokder.blogspot.com

Given that the anime version of The Promised Neverland cut out a few arcs from the manga, many of the characters were not able to make any significant appearance. Many characters do not appear at all, and their contribution to the story is either replaced by something else, or is not needed since the arc that they were in was not animated.

This is a shame because there are a large number of interesting characters that contributed a lot to the story. These characters were also excellent in showing that things were not black and white, as some humans could be monsters while some demons could be good.

10 Yugo Was The Unseen Resident Of The First Shelter

Yugo intimidates Emma and Ray

Yugo was the first human adult that the Grace Field House children met after leaving the farm. He hated Emma because he saw his old self in her. He had her same optimism and drive to find Minerva, which ultimately led to the death of his friends.

Upon defeating the Poachers alongside Emma and realizing that one of his friends was still alive, Yugo finally allowed himself to soften up around the Grace Field children. In the anime, there were traces of Yugo's presence in the shelter, as his writing was on the walls, but the children never met him.

9 Andrew Originally Led The Human Intruders Into The Shelter

Andrew takes orders from Ratri

The humans that invaded the shelter didn't seem to have a leader in the anime. In the manga, this leader was Andrew. Andrew was a terrifying character who was completely devoted to Peter Ratri.

He didn't think much of the children and was relentless in pursuing them. Yugo and Lucas died trying to stop him, but Andrew nearly got to the children, only to be stopped by a demon who didn't hesitate to eat him.

8 Lucas Was Another Cattle Child Survivor

Lucas introduces himself

Lucas was one of Yugo's friends, thought to be dead. However, it turned out that he survived and kept himself hidden within Goldy Pond. He was the leader of the children there, doing whatever he could to teach them to survive.

Like Andrew and Yugo, Lucas did not appear in the anime at all, since the entire Goldy Pond arc was completely cut. Without that arc, Lucas wouldn't have a purpose in the anime's plot.

7 Leuvis Was A Poacher That Helped Mujika Become Queen

Leuvis may not have appeared in the anime, but he was one of the most terrifying villains in the manga. He took great joy in hunting humans, especially intelligent ones who were capable of putting up a good fight against him.

He relished his fight against Emma and the rest of the children in Goldy Pond, and even came close to killing her. Later, after surviving this encounter, he steps up and tells the demon citizens that Mujika wasn't evil-blooded like they thought, and elected her as the new queen.

6 Adam Was The Original Cure For The Lambda Children's Condition

Adam is discovered to be the cure

Adam was one of the children subjected to experiments at the Lambda facility. Thanks to these experiments, Adam had enhanced strength, which made him powerful enough to hurt demons with his bare fists.

He was the only one who didn't experience the symptoms of deteriorating from the inside like the other Lambda children, and once this was revealed, the children realized that Adam could be the cure they were looking for. He was replaced by Minerva's pen cap, which told the children how to cure their condition in the anime.

5 Ayshe Was Supposed To Be A Child That Didn't Want To Be Saved

Ayshe plots revenge

Ayshe appears only in the manga, shown to have lived a happy life with her adoptive demon father. Thinking that she was in danger, Norman's group killed her father. Rather than being grateful, Ayshe hates them all for it, deciding to never speak to them in anything other than the demon language.

Rather than introducing Ayshe, the anime introduced a demon girl named Emma, who would be the one to help Norman realize that not all demons are bad.

4 Hayato Isn't Sent To Kill Mujika

Ray points a gun at hayato

Hayato is one of the few children from the Lambda facility who are absent in the anime. He greatly respects Norman, and when ordered to, he and Jin accompany Don and Gilda to find Mujika and Sonju. They were told to kill the demons, but they do not succeed.

In the anime, Emma and Ray go to see the demons, and Norman decides to take advantage of their absence by attacking other demons near his location.

3 Geelan Never Meets Norman

Geelan prepares to revolt

Geelan was a former noble that was cast out by the other nobles. Wanting revenge, he is used as a pawn by Norman, who pretends to be William Minerva in order to strike a deal.

In this deal, the humans and Geelan's followers would team up to overthrow the current nobility, and Geelan would allow the cattle children to go free. Both sides planned to backstab each other. Strangely, Geelan's meeting with Norman never happened in the anime.

2 Legravalima Has No Presence Despite Being Queen

Legravalima is drunk on her own power

Legravalima is the queen of the Demon World, a cruel leader that allowed the lower classes to devolve, and one of the demons who ate anyone who carried Mujika's blood. She is the main antagonist towards the end of the series, as she exploited the corrupt system that made the lower classes starve while she supported the farms that produced cattle children.

She had to die in order for Mujika to ascend to the throne. While the anime did briefly show Mujika becoming queen, Legravalima, who had been so difficult to defeat in the manga, had little to no presence outside of the manga.

1 Him Appears Briefly At The End Of The Anime

Emma makes a promise

Him is a demon that lives in a different realm than other demons and is the deity of the Demon World. Thanks to Emma reforging the promise with Him, he allowed every cattle child in the demon world to go to the human world.

In exchange, Emma had to give up her memories of her loved ones. Although Emma is shown meeting Him in the anime, it doesn't seem like Emma was forced to make a sacrifice.
